Trust & Safety

Confidence and Trust in the Transaction

Our success depends on ensuring you have 100% trust in the safety and security of the marketplace. That’s why we have set up three safeguards to protect you and your property:

User Verification & Review

Registered Users of our site undergo personal checks to confirm their identity and are rated under our review system

General Liability & Property Insurance

Spacer, on behalf of its Users has in place liability and property cover up to $2m to cover unforeseen events

Contingent Property Damage Expense Cover

Spacer provides you with cover for any losses due to theft or damage to your property up to $25,000

Confidence in our Users

All Hosts and Renters of Spacer undergo checks to verify their identity through social media, and credit agencies (if required). Once on board, Users provide detailed profiles and information about their space or goods to be stored, as well as reviews and ratings from their previous transactions. Secure messages are sent through the site so you can ask questions or check any details before agreeing to any storage agreement.

Confidence in our Payments

Renters pay by credit card for the storage of their goods through our site using the Stripe Inc. Payment Gateway. Stripe Inc uses the very latest in 256-bit SSL security & is 100% PCI compliant, for your peace of mind. Companies such as Twitter, Pinterest, Xero, Salesforce, SurveyMonkey and 1,000’s more use Stripe.

We guarantee the first rental payment (pro-rata to end of month) to the Host within 48 hours of the renter moving in (from Spacer), with recurring monthly payments for the duration of the agreement.

Confidence as a Host

Spacer, on behalf of its Users has in place general liability and property insurance cover up to $2m to cover accident or injury to 3rd parties as a result of your transaction. This insurance provides protection for any claims brought against a Host for bodily injury or property damage caused whilst a Renter is renting a space.

As a Host, you set the access, terms and conditions of rental and approve each rental. Our terms and conditions clearly outline any dangerous goods and items which must not be stored in any space including:

  1. Toxic, polluted or contaminated goods
  2. Firearms, munitions, weapons or explosives
  3. Radioactive materials; highly flammable or hazardous goods
  4. Living plants or animals; food or perishable goods
  5. Anything damp, mouldy, rotten or infested with or damaged by parasites
  6. Any item which emits any fumes or strong odour
  7. Cash and securities
  8. Illegal goods
  9. Waste

If, as a Host you ever feel uncomfortable either with the Renter or with the goods being stored, we strongly recommend that you immediately contact Spacer, and we will arrange cancellation and removal of the goods on your behalf.

Confidence as a Renter

Spacer, on behalf of Renters, also has in place a Contingent Property Damage Expense coverage insurance policy up to $25,000. This protection acts as secondary cover to existing home and contents insurances you have in place, where if, in a transaction facilitated via our website, you are faced with any losses or damages through no fault of your own. Some example claims might include:

  1. Your goods are damaged by water / flood effects
  2. Your goods are misappropriated or misused and damaged

As a Renter, we may require you to list the items that you intend to store when making a booking, which we will keep as a record as the basis for any claim. We strongly recommend that you also advise the Host of the items you intend to store for their peace of mind.

If you need to make a claim, please contact us within 7 days of any incident taking place and make sure that all crime is reported to the police within 48 hours. We will forward all claims to our insurance assessor who may require additional details to verify their assessment.

We take protecting your goods and property very seriously as our business depends on it.

Maximize Space, Minimize Waste. Spacer is committed to sustainability.
